Pichia Expression Licensing
Research Corporation Technologies has made the licensing process for Pichia Expression rapid and simple, by creating three different nonexclusive licenses, one of which should fit into various business plans.
The major differences among these licenses, termed Class A, Class B and Class C, are in the financial terms. Proteins excluded from production in Pichia (due to previous licensing commitments), bulk product terms and legal aspects are similar among all three license classes.

Specific financial terms for bulk product, nonmedical products and products made, used or sold in non-patent countries are addressed fully in our license agreements. The license issue fee is due upon signing of the license agreement and nonrefundable. The annual minimum royalty fee is prepaid January 30 of each year and is fully creditable toward royalties owed during that calendar year.
The industry recognizes the importance of the Pichia Expression system in that more than 120 licenses to the system have been granted. RCT welcomes the opportunity to work with companies to demonstrate the capabilities of the Pichia system.
RCT has ongoing efforts to improve the Pichia Expression system by adding adding new expression vectors, host strains and improved methodologies. In most cases these improvements will be added to existing licenses of the Pichia Expression system at no additional cost.
RCT's partner, Invitrogen, sells a number of kits that contains components of the Pichia Expression system. The system can be initially evaluated by purchasing a kit from Invitrogen. Invitrogen can be contacted for up-to-date technical service as well as contract research services for Pichia.
