Pichia 2009 conference
RCT held the Pichia 2009 conference on Oct. 18-21 at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort and Spa in Tucson, Ariz. The conference provided scientists and developers with the most up-to-date information about advances and applications in the Pichia system.
Speakers included Nico Callewaert, Ph.D., and Kristof De Schutter, Ph.D., two of the authors of a paper in the June 2009 issue of the journal Nature Biotechnology about the sequencing of the genome for Pichia pastoris.
James Cregg, Ph.D., of the Keck Graduate Institute, delivered a keynote address, "A Historic Perspective with a Look to the Future." A molecular and cellular biologist with particular expertise and interest in yeasts, Cregg has played a major role in developing the Pichia platform.
Conference proceedings are now available as a PDF download.
Pichia genome sequenced by RCT partner VIB
Working in collaboration with RCT, a team led by Nico Callewaert, Ph.D., at the Flanders Institute for Biotechnology (VIB), in Ghent, Belgium, completed the sequencing of the genome for Pichia pastoris. Details appeared in the June 2009 issue of the journal Nature Biotechnology.
